The research programme PopDev will help to illuminate how expanding access to sexual and reproductive health information and services contributes to reducing poverty and improving equitable economic development. The programme focuses on strengthening the evidence-base for policy and practice and identifying ways forward in research on how population and reproductive health impact poverty and economic growth.
As poverty and economic development are complex, multi-dimensional problems, a multi- or interdisciplinary approach including economic and related social science research is strongly preferred. Research funded should be performed by teams of investigators in both the Netherlands and in developing countries, with a preference for Africa. Research initiatives will be up to three years in duration and have a maximum funding allocation of €550,000 from this programme. Three to four initiatives will be awarded.
A description of the programme and call can be downloaded under Documentation. Please note that the call for proposals has been closed. Information can also be found on the website of the programme www.nwo.nl/wotro/PopDev.
