Thematic framework

WOTRO wishes to make a special contribution to mobilising scientific knowledge that benefits the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. For this purpose the policy challenges identified in the MDGs have been translated into a thematic framework of scientific challenges, taking into account the expertise present in Dutch research groups and institutions and their international partners.

Four main themes have been identified:
A.   Poverty and Hunger
B.   Global Health and Health Systems
C.   Sustainable Environment
D.   Global Relationships 
The description of the WOTRO themes 2007-2010 (as described in the WOTRO Strategy Plan 2007-2010) can be downloaded here.

These themes, including cross-cutting issues, guide WOTRO's thematic policy, notably the development of and participation in Thematic Programmes and in part the Integrated Programmes.
